Test built of froyo located?
Our sources have advised us that the initial test builts for froyo have started to be compiled. We will try to find and flash them and report back to you asap.
UPDATE!!!!
Guys,
We know you are impatient to get your hands on it, but we need to do some sanity checks and recompiles before we unleash it to you hungry wolves. Why you ask?
1. The 2.2 kernel is sure powerful, but without the ocerclock and other modifications we all, over the months and year by now, learned to use and love, you will not be happy. We sure are not ![]()
2. Since this is, as we stated, an internal test build, we can do some modifications on it/with it that we have already had to do (or others had to do) with the existing 2.2 versions out there. This hopefully will result in a more stable and “ready” release for you guys to get your hands on.
3. Our team has tested the device to death as much as possible, and our test results reveal that there is just too much different results with different users. Example: Some have a working WPA2-encrypted WLAN, others, including me, do not. Now, we know there are developers out there that simply dont care and release it with such behaviors, but we have some sort of minimum quality standards and reputation that we want to ensure once we launch, we are ready and able to tell you “ah this happens you do that”.
Nothing is more frustrating for us than a user comment “this and that happens”, and we only can shrug our shoulders.
4. At the moment, with the “simple” 2.2 kernel and software build as it is, we do not believe that this is ready enough for you guys to use as software for daily use.
5. The well established developers are supporting us on this built. They and we will try to solve the follwing before we are ready:
- Overclocking possible – current status – NO
- WLAN works – current status -NO
- Double USB (the standard Froyo/Google mount message AND the Motorola USB at the same time), this is very confusing and problematic
Once this is sorted, we will launch. Next question I expect – When ?!?!?
Well honestly no idea, BUT!!! we expect something in the next days, or at the latest by the end of the week. If a developer beats us to it, that is fine
:)

Coooooooooooool,
full featured cm6 with milestone taste ??
12.10.2010 at 06:34
Why dont you guys talk to Nadablak from Modmymobile about recompiling the drivers for WLAN and overclocking? He managed to backport Froyo’s native Apps2SD to the 2.1 kernel so I wouldnt put it past him to work some magic.
If he’s not amongst you, you could catch him at android(dot)doshaska(dot)net and maybe email him from there.
12.10.2010 at 07:35
nadlabak and we are of course cooperating.
12.10.2010 at 07:37
Awesome! I’m about to install his CM6 release right now since I love my Milestone camera and Motofrenzy killed my love for it.
12.10.2010 at 07:44
Thumbs up for your update on the blog entry! Especially the “minimum quality standard” is somewhat I DO like very much. Keep it up guys and PLS take your time!
BR and so many “thank you”s, payce!
12.10.2010 at 07:50
stupid desition! it is like cm6 testing. it is alpha and not all work. so let the people decide if they want to install this build.
overclock is not necessary. not all people overclock the ms.
and wlan? please do you know internet flat? so i dont see any reason not to leak it.
a usb problem we have in build cm6 too but all people use it. and the google message? if someone dont have knowledge about flashing it is the problem of the person.
you will have same stupid questions with sbf of stock too. so dont make a spoiler if you told the people not to release it!
12.10.2010 at 15:44
You may, or may not call our decision “stupid”, but alas, it is our and not your decision to take.
So whilst we try to accommodate the user feedback in general, your comment and the particular wording of it convinces us that we have taken the right decision. We regret to not be able to comment further on your particular “request”
12.10.2010 at 09:22
since you got your hands on a test build somehow you might be able to influence the final build, right? Do you see any possibility to add full usb host support? or at least modify the kernel so that its possible to add via modules later on. external display, reliable usb keyboard, flash drive… that would be so cool.
You guys do a great job. thank you

greate new~~~
12.10.2010 at 16:46
Sorry, for milestone x720? update froyo?
12.10.2010 at 17:33
This is for the MILESTONE A853.
12.10.2010 at 18:05
Hey, please work day and night, for a fast and good result.
12.10.2010 at 19:05
Ok i undestand all these you say (i am refering to GOT)…
But please i want to make 2 questions and if it’s possible to take an answer i’ll be happy….
1) Did you manage to get root access with new 2.2 bootloader/kernel or the tests you make are with old vulnerable bootloader???
2) Did you noticed some further lock in new 2.2 kernel???
Thanks in advanced…
13.10.2010 at 07:03
1. Root was easily obtained by extracting and repacking the sbf file, includung the vulnerable recovery and repacking. Same as before
2. No, no further locks in 2.2.1 (as the build it 2.2.1-based)
13.10.2010 at 08:39
So will not the 2.2 recovery, but the old vulnerable one???
Does it make any deference???
Or you will try to root the new 2.2 recovery…???
13.10.2010 at 10:38
I am trying to understand you point, but I am struggling…
Why would we brute force attack the 2.2 recovery if we can simply take it out by reflashing the vulnerable one and allow root this way? Maybe I am missing the point, but what would be the reason? There is no difference how root is obtained, as long as it is obtained and it sticks (permanent)
13.10.2010 at 12:10
I don’t have the knowlegde what’s why i am making questions. So my point is if the 2.2 recovery has more options or something else that makes it better than the old recovery…
So i’m asking if there are any deferences between 2.2 recovery and olad one…
Or using the old recovery is for sure not changing anything to phone performance, and there is no need at all to root the new 2.2 recovery???
13.10.2010 at 08:36
so we can finally launch PSfreedom with this kernel?
13.10.2010 at 08:38
hi, I am looking forward for 2.2 Could you make a rom version with fonts from Cronos mod or maybe they are in stock froyo.
13.10.2010 at 08:44
You understand your point is useless, don’t you????
Is it possible, the developers to listen everything that a user says???
It’s not possible, so your point is out of interesting, if you want to change fonts you can make at yourselfe later….
So don’t sent such comments here with such useless things…..
13.10.2010 at 19:51
Are you referring to me? Who the f*** are you to decide which post is relevant. Keep your stupid comments to yourself.
13.10.2010 at 09:05
great news, i’m waiting 2.2 a long time
13.10.2010 at 13:15
