New G.O.T OpenRecovery V2.01 launched

As promised, here is our new V2.01 of the G.O.T OpenRecovery (G.O.T OR)

New features in 2.01 version are:

Enhancements
- toggle USB switch to enable access to the sdcard from your PC whilst you are still in OR (thanks Skrilax_CZ)
- use metamorph themes in OR directly (to theme launcher for example), experimental
- edit your Android_ID in cfg file direclty (16digit hex), then use the respective option to add this ID to your version of the MS
- added OpenRecovery-CFG folder (this is where the .cfg files for the Android_ID and the stock app removal are stored)
- some changes in script to correct issues
- Now based on V1.45 of Skrilax_CZs OpenRecovery!

FIXES:
- The new folder “OpenRecovery-CFG” includes the cfg files that can be changed by the users.
- We moved the “backup” folder to “OpenRecovery-CFG”, so only 1 backup for all features now and not for every Version of our OR mods (2.1, 2.2.1 etc)
- Facebook issue STILL not solved to our satisfaction with the 2.2.1 release

APP & Framework backup:
If you want to make a new complete backup, go to “Stock OR”, Wipe & Cleaning Menu and apply “Create New Backup”
this will delete your old backup and create a new one.

All cfg files you may edit are in OpenRecovery-CFG now. (folders for GOT_2.1, GOT_2.2.1 and GOT_CM6)
Each folder contains the cfg files you can edit – to edit the cfg files under Windows, don’t use Windows Editor or Notepad
please use Notepad++.

INSTALLATION

- Delete all previous versions of the folder “OpenRecovery” on the SD CARD to ensure all you dont habe “old” stuff in the folder
- Copy the OpenRecovery AND OpenRecovery-CFG folders to your SDCARD as well as the update.zip

Have fun.

So, excuse my ignorance, whats the big deal with the Android_ID, what’s it for? How does it affects me?

  2. batman Says:

Awesome!! Great work guys. Now I just have to figure out how to use this new Metamorph menu, was looking forward to this.

    • in addons/metamorph folder is a example how to add ne metamorph themes…
most of existing metamorph themes can be use… but only let xml files in the folders if they for your firmware version…

in the addons folder also is a metamorph.txt file with instructions
may thinks it simple to use the feature

  3. Hi guys;

Is the battery problem solved in this release?

    []‘s,

  4. IGOTCONFUSED Says:

Actually tisis much better then metamorph as you dont need xml config config files you just need appropriate folder structure , and the greatest thing is you have the back up option witch allows you to revert changes made !!! Great work guys !!!

    3. Barnicle wifi starts but no network is shared

I was with this problem and the solution was open Settings > Applications > Manage applications and chose wireless tether after it, chose wipe data for this application.
After that, my problem has been solved.

      []‘s,

  20. Can anyone comment on the battery drain after the updated OR? It was good before the updated OR so I just want to know if it was fixed.

  21. keaan Says:

    HI~

these are the bug or issues what i found in the version .

    1) wifi cant connect to router unless i cahnge to channel 11-14
    2) screen went like frozen after a phone call or incoming call for few seconds.
    3) battery still drain quite fast .

    4) I really want to say thankyou all the effort and work for us to have a better rom :)

  22. Vladislav Says:

I have a really big problem: Very often the screen went like frozen until I restart the phone. Then, after 2 minutes I can´t use the screen again…

Before the GOT-Update I Hadn´t problems like this.

  23. Alfredo Says:

The Touch screen stops responding during or after some phone conversation

  24. I think you guys missed that android and linux kernel is an open source project. Sending binary blobs around kills the whole idea (and btw you also violate the GPL)!

    • Just because I am sick of comments like this…. please specify exactly what in the GPL was broken here.

So many kids just run around saying “open source this, open source that” without spending any time to understand what that actually means and was the license requires.

  25. Bryan Says:

HELP. :( I flash to 2.2.1 and my phone is in a reboot loop. I’ve done what was needed – cold reboot and wipe data but still reboot loop. How? :(

  26. I don’t have any problems installing OpenRecovery, but every time the phone reboots, the stock recovery comes back. I tried both of the methods listed by nadlabak on this page http://android.doshaska.net/rootable to get rid of the script that reinstalls the stock recovery, but neither of them works. Any suggestions? Thanks very much.

  27. Roland Says:

I managed to sync my Facebook contacts using a program from APKtor (alternative market using repositories, repo market.nerman.ws) simply called “fb sync”…I have however not been able to find it in the market. It worked though :) And now I have all my pictures back!

  28. Bryan Says:

My phone USB connection is very unstable. Everytime I try to tether using EasyTether or PdaNet even doing a “adb -d forward tcp:2511 tcp:2511″, my usb connection will drop. Any idea why? :(

  29. This software don’t recognize local roaming – plis fix it!

  30. batman Says:

I cant for the life of me to get metamorph to work. I am applying the metamorph file correctly and as directed here:

    http://www.android-hilfe.de/themes-fuer-motorola-milestone/50041-metamorph-launcher-pro-updates-fuer-he_stheone64-themes.html

OR goes through the script and sais installed however when i boot up there is no changes!! I’m lost!

Any one that can help or know why?

  31. buddhathecook Says:

Hi friends a lot of thanks for your very intensiv work you are the best!! So problem in new Recovery the Script install own Apps don´t work by my self.
Can you confirm that?? thanks for answers. Greets from Germany/NRW

  32. Whook Says:

Erm guys can someone help me i flashed the 2.21 rom already it works, but i dont know what to do next with the Openrecovery folder

  33. jansonChan Says:

Why the FroyoLauncher using the medium density icon image? How can i change it?

  34. batman Says:

I could not for the life of me get metamorph through OR to work. So i ended up downloading metamorph and busybox from the market and applied the theme that way and it worked without no problems.

So anyone having issue with metamorph through OR recovery just download from the marketplace instead.

  35. Prydwen Says:

Hi, I’m having kind of a major issue…

After installing the rom, I tried to apply the update.zip to access the open recovery.
It got stuck on “create stock app backup…”
And it’s been this way for like 15 minuts.

I’m kinda freaking out, made some research and it seems like it already happened to ONE guy, who took off the battery and the phone never worked again.

Could anyone PLEASE help me ?

  36. Prydwen Says:

Took off the battery and THANKS GOD it still works. And worked the second time. :)

  37. cubog3000 Says:

App2vfat on this froyo 2.2.1 leak.

    1. Making two vfat partitions

    2. Making boot script(in /system/bin/boot_script) like below
    mount -t vfat -o rw,uid=1000,gid=1015,fmask=0133 /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /data/sd-ext

    3. Doing same as app2sd

This enables to install apps from market and also run them.

I comfirmed this on my milestone.

Is this new or known idea?

  39. Quinity Says:

    Hey guys,
first of all I wanna thank you. The releases are just greate :)
But theres one “little”, well quite big, problem in the new release.
    The battery depletes very fast.
I hope you can fix this issue in a new OR version.
Thx and keep up the good work
    Quinity

    • TheSSJ Says:

That’s a bug in the kernel unfortunately…look in the xda forums:
      phone not sleeping at all
indication: Spare Parts application, Battery history – Other usage/Since last unplugged shows Running (100%)
triggered by: usb or power adapter connection
workaround: after disconnection, reboot the phone
cause: 2.6.32 beta kernel (it happens on all ROMs/firmware that use the leaked beta kernel)”

      • Quinity Says:

        Ok, thx for the information.
Ill think Ill keep the ROM ’till the original Moto-FW is out. Then Ill flash to 2.2. Hope GOT will make an 2.2.1 based 2.2 kernel. Dont know if it works but hope so.

  40. haris Says:

    Hello,
I have installed the latest version on my milestone, but I have the following problems:
    - launcher pro starts from scratch whenever I hit home.
    - battery lfe has become awful
    - gmail doesn’t always synchronise and I need to clear the data from settings in order to synchronise.

    Any help for the above?

    Thanks

    • TheSSJ Says:

I’ve already left a comment about the battery…concerning the other problems I would wipe the dalvik cache and then retry..

  41. Maurice Says:

    Thanks guys! Great Work,

Any idea on the next version? Here is some feedback on issues i seem to have:

-I seem to be having an issue with location, the unit doesn’t seem to want to find where i am without wifi at least, agps does not seem to work

-is the new JIT active in this build?

    - Battery seems to be a problem

    - Facebook sync (i know you are aware of this)

    - Wifi Tether seems to force close every time i start it.

Can you tell me what the mem hack is?

Again thanks for all the great help, i look forward to your next version.

  42. Is anyone having trouble with no notification LEDs working once flashed to 2.2.1?

They work while the Open Recovery thing is doing its job, but when the phone is actually running no LEDs light up – not even with 3rd party programs like Blink, Trillian, various notifier apps, etc.

  43. Fernando Says:

Any plans to update GOT OR to use the latest version that was just released (1.46)? It contains quite a few bugfixes, some of them were affecting a lot of people (e.g., people who tried to flash using OR > 1.14 were getting stuck on the M screen, is now fixed).

  44. Alon Says:

How can i go back to my 2.1 Nandroid backup?
I have another question, when im press the screen on button, it takes some time to load the app icons on the home page.. something like 10 15 seconds until the icons show..
How can i fix it ?

  45. isn’t here a way to keep my SD card more clean? with this installed I have like zillion directories on my SD. It can be confusing and hard to navigate.

    • to be clear I have “OpenRecovery”, “OpenRecovery-CFG”, “nandroid”, “update.zip”. Does all of them need to be in root folder?

      • Quinity Says:

Yeah, but well I think you can handle 3 folders and 1 file.
Still you can delete them but then you dont have anything to start from recovery mode.

  46. Quinity Says:

    ATTENTION!
The battery drain bug has been fixed by the CynagonMod.
Use the G.O.T 2.2.1 version and update it with the cynagonmod.

    http://cyanogenmod4milestone.googlecode.com/files/update-0.04-10.11.20-cm-6.1.0-RC4-Milestone-signed.zip

To flash the Mod you need to clear the Dalvik Cache
Download the data and copy it to /sdcard/openrecovery/updates.
Start der Recovery Mod and open update.zip(OpenRecovery 2.01) –> Recovery Menu ->Miscelenious Menu ->Apply:Update instalieren!!

    • therm0 Says:

      Hi,

I tried to get the CM6 to run, but when I booted it up, it wouldn’t acquire a Telus signal, and wouldn’t let me select Telus from the carriers. I tried to load the Telus baseband from the OR menus, but when I rebooted, it would go into a boot-loop. At this point I gave up and had to flash back to the OR 2.2.1 kernel. I completely wiped the phone, too…including Dalvik.

If others are going to try this with their Telus phone, do be careful. I read somewhere that the Cyanogen folks are not planning to support the Milestone due to a locked bootloader.

    MotorolaEurope on Facebook 4hrs ago:
    “Motorola Europe
Many of you have asked again for an update on the FroYo upgrade for Milestone, so we wanted to let you know that we have now entered the operator testing phase. We will give you more information as soon as we can.”

Does that mean that the development of Froyo for Milestone is nearing its end? Is there a chance for newer leaked kernel?

  48. Moustafa Says:

I am unable to remove the tether app from my phone.
It’s not located in the /system/app folder.

    Any help?
